Fall Forage & Feast (round 2!)

Schedule for the day:
8-10am Intertidal Foraging with Alanna
10-noon Forest Forage and wild tea workshop with Lorelle
12-2pm Wild Food Lunch with Cameron

Location: within 30 miles of Cannon Beach, OR

Join marine biologist Alanna Kieffer, forest ecologist Lorelle Sherman, and wild foods chef Cameron Dunlap for a fall edition of Coastal Forage and Foray. This experience will take you on an in depth exploration of the diverse shores, lush forests, and abundant wild foods the Oregon Coast has to offer. Together, Lorelle, Alanna, and Cameron have over 20 years of foraging experience and cannot wait to share the experience with you.

We’ll start at low tide, exploring the intertidal, or area between the highest and lowest tides. Alanna will go over some coastal ecology and oceanography of the area. You will learn sustainability and safety of foraging for shellfish and seaweeds (seaweed season is over but you will learn for future!) and have a chance to harvest mussels to take home. We’ll discuss processing and preservation of your foraged finds. - shiftingtidesnw@gmail.com

Lorelle will guide you through the forest to forage for wild mushrooms and plants that can be used to make medicinal, nutritious and delicious infusions, teas, and syrups. The focus of this forage will be the ethical and sustainable harvest of wild foods, the safe and efficient processing of these ingredients, and the demonstrated process of turning them into foods that preserve their flavors and nutrition throughout the winter. - lorellemorel@gmail.com

Last we’ll enjoy some wild cooking with Chef Cameron Dunlap of Morchella- This workshop and meal includes learning how to approach wild foods in a culinary sense, and how to imagine meals entirely made in the wild. Guests will enjoy a meal cooked with wild foods and be able to take home some pickles made out in the wild! - cameron.dunlap@gmail.com

Location will be near Cannon Beach, Oregon. More information on what to wear, bring, and where to meet will be sent to you upon sign up.
